Competition wants that the companies know what relying
The National Commission of Competencia (CNC) prepares a catalog with the fines that can impose to the companies that harm the free market, in order to quantify aggravating and the extenuating ones in each case. His president said to it yesterday, Luis Berenguer, who went for the first time to the Congress after the creation of the organism, result of the old integration of the Service and Court of Defense of the Competition. That guide of good practices, that she will include contributions of the economic agents, will be a communication without legal value, like which she makes the equivalent European of the CNC. Its goal, according to Berenguer, is to give legal security to the companies, when doing predictable the fines and dissuading possible violators. From the CNC they admit that, nowadays, the companies do not know what fines they face when they infringe the norm, although the new Law of Competition is more specific than the previous one. The maximum, that never has been applied, is of a 10% of its annual sales for “very serious” lack. Like example, Berenguer mentioned the sanction of 24 million Euros imposed to the boxes vasconavarras to distribute the market during fifteen years. One is a very serious infraction, that has been attenuated to occur in different degree in each territory. Denunciations by foods the president of the CNC, said that the present fines “already are sufficiently dissuasive” and clarified that the organism not yet has initiated an investigation to solve if the ascents of prices of foods announced by several employer's associations suppose some type of illegal pact.
